VELA, Cayman Islands
Vela, A new lifestyle awaits
Words By Natasha Were
The prestigious South Sound community is growing, and Davenport Development has been at the forefront of this trend. On the heels of their sold-out San Sebastian complex, they are once again raising the bar for condominium living with Vela.
The Davenport team have reimagined the popular Mediterranean-styled San Sebastian to create the sleek, contemporary Vela (from the Latin word for sail). Vela brings together beach access, beautiful finishes, high-end amenities, and state-of-the-art-security to offer its owners a new lifestyle.
With the first phase completely sold, reservations are now being taken for the second phase. Flexible floorplans range from one-bedroom condos to four-bedroom townhouses. All units feature a private courtyard entry and a covered patio opening out to the interior common area oasis. Each townhouse has a rooftop terrace for entertaining, with an option to add an additional bedroom while maintaining the outdoor space.
Vela is purpose-built for a growing, active community complete with Cayman’s first Olympic-length pools. The three pools include two lap lanes, as well as fountains and sunbathing shelves for the more passive pool-dweller. In addition to a pool in each phase of the development, Vela will have a walking track around the entire property, tennis courts, two full service gyms and a yoga room. Beyond the high-end facilities, additional storage is offered that boaters and paddle-boarders are sure to appreciate.
Other shared amenities include a clubhouse and function room, and a unique utility-based concierge service. Residents can request artwork to be hung while at work, dry-cleaning to be collected or groceries to be stocked. The additional service used is just added to the monthly strata bill.
Davenport has made it a priority to keep strata fees and monthly expenses low through design choices and efficient building materials. This includes: structural walls made from Insulating Concrete Forms (ICF) blocks; energy-efficient A/C units from local vendor OtisAir; and reflective glass windows from local purveyor Iberica Materials that help keep interior temperatures down, while providing protection in a storm and eliminating the need for hurricane shutters. Furthermore, each home is outfitted with a propane-powered oven and range, washer and dryer and tankless water heater.
Potential-buyers can also select from furniture packages provided by Dwell, a new range from IDG. The collection combines natural elements with contemporary lines to create a truly turn-key experience for busy professionals.
A high calibre development, Vela delivers quality living at an affordable price point.
