Saturnia, Cayman Islands

Truly out of the ordinary, Saturnia juxtaposes the subtly of European design features against the stunning backdrop of the Caribbean Sea with Jerusalem limestone floors and wall-to-wall picture windows framing the deep blues of the ocean.

The real estate mantra of ‘location, location, location’ rings very true for South Sound, which is one of Cayman’s most favoured residential spots. Aside from its soft sandy reef-protected beaches that stretch along the southern coast, it is home to Smith Cove, Grand Old House and Dart Family Park, not to mention numerous sports clubs, from an equestrian centre to the local squash club.

As well as offering owners the perfect location, those likely to find themselves absent for significant periods will find that Saturnia gives them unexpected peace of mind because of its lighting and security system which can be controlled remotely from anywhere in the world. However, those who will get to own this beautiful property will appreciate it most when they are home to enjoy all that it has to offer.

The hi-tech Poggenpohl aluminium kitchen with pale granite countertops, described as a showpiece, is fitted with everything the most discerning cook needs to prepare a feast worthy of such a home, which can then be served in the open plan living and dining area with striking sea views, offering the perfect place to dine on that feast.

The kitchen is bound to prove a popular spot at Saturnia as it houses a climate controlled and custom made wine storage. This vintner’s delight is racked to hold 500 bottles and is complete with a tasting station, all housed behind frameless glass. When not enjoying the delights of the kitchen, the living area with its slide-away doors which lead onto the private patio overlooking the beach, and views along the coastline with stunning sunsets, offers the perfect place to live life, entertain and enjoy this amazing home.

When not enchanted by Cayman’s stunning sunsets and the chance to see the famous ‘green flash’, the media room or study is fitted with custom made maple cabinetry, housing a Bang and Olufsen home cinema and sound system, which can offer alternative entertainment and that can be operated from anywhere in the villa. If, however, the idea of a home cinema in the Caribbean seems at odds to those who would see themselves in this incredible ocean front home, it can easily be turned into a peaceful study or a third bedroom as it has its own en-suite bathroom.

A stone staircase leads to the first floor of Saturnia and the master suite, which is customised with a maple bed and cabinetry as well as two generous wardrobes that offer lots of storage. The master bathroom has polished stone walls, twin wash basins and a walk-in shower fitted with Hansgrohe spa and body jets to blast away the day’s sand. Looking through the windows of the bedroom, one can appreciate fabulous views towards George Town. The second bedroom has views over the gardens and also has an ensuite bathroom fitted with walk-in shower.

An air-conditioned and dehumidified attic space is accessed from the first floor and allows for extra storage. A laundry area with an oversized Asko washer and dryer will take the blues out of the wash day for whoever has to deal with the load.

Ambient lighting throughout the villa is controlled through the technologically sophisticated Lutron electric solar and blackout blinds at the press of a button, and air-conditioning is controlled by temperature and humidity settings for both comfort and higher energy efficiency.

Saturnia is situated in the heart of Windsor Village, a collection of town houses set in some four acres of communal gardens. Each home has views across the lawns onto the sea while retaining privacy with a sense of space. An impressive cabana at the end of the boardwalk offers owners an idyllic spot to relax. Windsor Village residents can enjoy the beach or the freeform pool with inset spa, while the club house provides a wet bar for social occasions. The 440 feet of ocean frontage has a retaining sea wall with a sandy beach below. Although Saturnia has a beautiful private patio, the shared facilities at Windsor Village provide the perfect place to socialise with family friends and neighbours.
