Michael Schwartz to Open Restaurant at Camana Bay
Award-winning chef/restaurateur Michael Schwartz is opening Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink restaurant in spring 2010
at Camana Bay.
The harbour-front location and design of the neighbourhood bistro was carefully considered explains Schwartz, “I’ve been careful in choosing the next step since Michael’s Genuine opened almost three years ago in Miami, and wanted to proceed cautiously to make certain that we could still provide the same quality experience in more than one restaurant. The harbour front at Camana Bay proved to be an irresistible location, and I’m confident that we’ll be able to replicate the dining experience that has proven to be so successful.”
In keeping with his mandate to provide local, sustainable ingredients whenever possible, Schwartz has developed relationships with local farmers and fishermen to source ingredients, while Camana Bay is supporting this mission by planting a Chef’s Garden.
The design of the restaurant is open and inviting, and seamlessly integrated into Camana Bay’s existing architecture and aesthetic. World-renowned restaurant designer Carl Myers, responsible for the design of Schwartz’s Miami restaurant, worked closely with Caymanian architect John Doak of John Doak Architecture to create a space that blends both indoor and outdoor dining.
