RL: Tell us about your role at IDG.
M: I am thrilled to be one of the Interior Designers at
IDG. I work directly with clients to create or renovate their space, tailoring the concept to their lifestyle and the function of the space.
C: Working in the Home Staging programme, I assist realtors, developers, architects and homeowners with furnishing the properties they are listing. I’m here to help sell their homes and am involved with everything from initial client communication to designing and specifying furniture and project installation.
RL: Tell us about the different services you offer?
M: I work with clients on every step of the design process from vision to installation. This could include anything from selecting paint colours or deciding on a finish palette,
to full renovations including new layout, new kitchens and bathroom renovations, complete with materials, lighting and furniture. I work with
IDG vendors and our retail stores,
HOME and
Dwell, to accommodate my clients’ budgets.
C: We offer three home staging programs: full home staging rental for eight weeks plus; two-day staging rental (this enables the property to be photographed and prepared for an open house) and home staging for lived-in properties (de-cluttering and repositioning existing furniture). We stage as many or as few rooms as required and even offer an add-on photography package, making us your one-stop-shop for getting your property market ready.
RL: How do you decide which projects are a good fit for you and your firm?
M: Every project is a great fit for us! We see every design project as an opportunity to help the client so we work with their timeframes and budgets.
C: We don’t turn away any projects as we are here to help sell all properties. We review properties, offer recommendations and create a strategy to sell the home, which could include one of our staging options.
RL: What do you find challenging about designing an interior?
M: Small spaces are always more challenging, but they are also the ones where you can be very creative, have fun and think outside the box. We are passionate creative types: this is why we do what we do.
C: The tricky spaces, angled walls and small box rooms are always the harder rooms to stage, but they are also the spaces that benefit the most. Buyers sometimes find it hard to imagine how furniture will fit in, so staging helps them to visualise it.
