Boggy Sands Club, Cayman Islands
A sand-to-sea development where barefoot luxury runs from the natural stone floors, via a private sandy path, all the way to the crystal clear waters of Seven Mile Beach.
Words By Natasha Were
Bordering idyllic Boggy Sand Road, the 2.4 acre landscaped lot features a total of 20 condominiums, distributed across five low-rise, contemporary Caribbean-style buildings, with private access to the beautiful northern end of Seven Mile Beach.
Designed to maximise its beach-side location, residents look out over the ocean from the huge 2,500 square foot shared roof terraces, and can walk barefoot down to a quiet patch of beach to swim or snorkel, rinsing off under outdoor showers on their return. Should they choose to explore the neighbourhood by bike, or the sparkling Caribbean Sea and offshore reefs by kayak or paddleboard, the development offers ample storage for equipment.
Superb communal facilities create a neighbourly atmosphere among residents: one pool features a barbecue and bar, showers and private cabanas for relaxed socialising, the other is large enough to swim laps. The clubhouse is a gathering place where residents can meet to watch the latest match, throw a steak on the grill, or play an impromptu game of volleyball, pool or foosball.
Although offering tranquillity and seclusion, well away from hotels and tourist developments, Boggy Sands Club is within easy walking distance of the local conveniences such as grocery stores, banks and restaurants.
Each condo measures approximately 2,500 square feet and has been carefully oriented to take advantage of prevailing breezes. Balconies lead off both the living area and the master bedroom and gardens surround ground floor units. Sleek, modern kitchens, fitted with top-of-the-line Samsung appliances open into a spacious open-plan dining and living area and the three bedrooms each have en suite bathrooms. Large families or those with frequent guests have the option of turning the den into a fourth bedroom.
A host of sustainable features ensure Boggy Sands Club is, both literally and figuratively, a green development. Living walls and lush landscaping, designed with native, drought-tolerant plants, fill the lot with foliage and are irrigated with rainwater harvested on site. Indoors, cooling costs are kept to a minimum with spray foam insulation and efficient air-conditioning systems, and all units are pre-wired for solar panels and Tesla Powerwall batteries.
A managed rental scheme makes Boggy Sands Club condos ideal investment properties, as well as full time residences. The first phase is scheduled for completion in February 2017.
