Anquilla is a tiny, flat island of coral and limestone situated at the northernmost tip of the Leeward island chain. A population of 13,477 inhabits the 102 sq km island, which boasts beautiful sandy beaches. The island enjoys an average year round temperature of 80° , at a latitude of 18° north, longitude 63° west. The island relies on luxury tourism and offshore banking and is a British Dependant Territory with English as the official language. Stock raising, fishing and salt mining are other industries here. The capital city is The Valley. Both Eastern Caribbean Dollars and United States dollars are used here.
