The Bahamian Real Estate Market Springs Forward in 2010
Nassau, The Bahamas
The word 'spring' can be defined in many forms including, "an elastic body or device that recovers its original shape when released after being distorted." The first quarter of 2010 saw a significant upswing in sales in The Bahamas with the real estate market demonstrating its resilience as we move into ‘spring’.
Direct flights from Canada to Exuma and increased activity are clear indicators that the Bahamian real estate market is alive and getting healthier every day. As with other real estate markets, much of the draw to The Bahamas for international buyers can be attributed to price reductions in sales prices and stabilised markets. New developments, such as ‘Bahama Cay’ in Abaco, are definitive signs that confidence is returning for purchasers and developers alike.
Expansion and contraction is sure to continue as the globe recovers its shape from last year’s financial distortion, but opportunities existing today are not hanging around and require ‘springing’ into action.
