Canadian-born, but Caymanian-raised Bill’s passions include flying, SCUBA diving, boating, photography and computers, all of which have served him well in his wide-ranging business ventures. Currently the owner of Paradise Properties Cayman Ltd., Bill’s previous commercial forays include founding and running Blackbeard’s Rum Company from 1992-2008, growing the local business into the international success story it is today.
Originally from the UK, interior design student, Elly Hails, now calls Grand Cayman home. A devoted traveller, Elly’s adventures continually yield inspiration for her interior design and travel blog www.caribbeanlivingblog.com, and evolve her signature style of eclectic furnishings and bright bold prints. Blissfully planning her upcoming nuptials, a rustic beach affair meets Moroccan candlelit bazaar, Elly is busy adding event design to her list of passions. Lucky for us, she took time out of her hectic schedule to round up some of the most luxurious and need-to-have bathroom finds around.
Juggling life as a fulltime ‘domestic goddess’ to her three children with her volunteer endeavours at the National Gallery of the Cayman Islands and the Central Caribbean Marine Institute, one wonders where Marcia found time this summer to pursue her true calling as an artist. Delving into her third workshop at the Academy of Realist Art in Toronto, Marcia delighted in the opportunity to further hone her skills and techniques. An avid runner and travel enthusiast, Marcia has been inspired to continue following her passion by fellow artist, Antiguan Jan Farara, whom she interviewed for this issue.
Armed with a Bachelor of Laws Degree and Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the University of Dundee, Scotland, Victor set off for a life of adventure. Along the way, the Scottish-born Senior Vice President of Maples Fiduciary Services has accumulated an impressive number of professional designations. These include: admission as a Solicitor, Scotland and admission as an Attorney-at-Law in the State of New York, USA; an Accredited Director by the Chartered Secretaries of Canada; member of the Cayman Islands Directors Association – he is currently appointed to its executive committee; as well as teaching General Principles of Law at the International College of the Cayman Islands. Resident of the Cayman Islands since 2002, Victor has taken to life in the Tropics. When not acting in his role as an independent director of investment funds, Victor can be found aboard his boat enjoying the oceans’ bounty.
A denizen of the world, Randy was born in Chateauroux, France, brought up in the US and Bermuda and currently resides in the Cayman Islands. Presently the Director of Chateauroux Ltd., a management holding company for Stafford Flooring, which operates flooring boutiques in Bermuda and Grand Cayman along with Common Ground Café in Bermuda, he was the first Hardwood Flooring Inspector in the Caribbean region. Throwing caution to the wind, Randy left corporate New York to establish his wood flooring company in the 1980s, causing quite a stir as the flooring world was primarily dominated by tile and carpet options at that time. When not developing innovative flooring solutions, Randy can either be found playing tennis or listening to Jazz.
